I’m happy to announce a substantial upgrade to Lokad’s first digital supply chain assistant (which we released last year). The revised chatbot is available at lokad.com/chat.

A 1950s-era depiction of a man sitting at a desk and interacting with a chatbot.

The considerable upgrade includes the following benefits:

  1. It can write Envision code.
  2. It cites its sources.
  3. Its answers are markedly better.

Although Lokad is still a (modest) outlier in offering a public digital assistant, I expect this practice to become as common as maintaining a website.

Any company of sufficient size eventually publishes hundreds of web pages. Visitors—whether prospects, students, job seekers, or market analysts—benefit from an assistant that can answer their questions directly, instead of forcing them to navigate an extensive site.

Moreover, a digital assistant paves the way for future agent‑to‑agent scenarios, where autonomous agents interact with the assistant itself.

Give it a try and let me know your thoughts!
